There are so many different marketing techniques that you can use to grow your small business. For many practice owners, social media gurus, influencers and content creators, Instagram is ruffling a lot of feathers in terms of being consistent and delivering real results. Many complain of low reach and an inability to connect with their audience. But like all social platforms, Instagram has evolved and we need to adapt our strategy along with it if we want to truly grow our businesses.
Here are 4 things you can do right now to increase views and engagement on your Instagram posts:
1. Prioritize Posting Instagram Reels
Still photography is dying. We highly recommend turning your still photos into reels if you want to get more views. Reels are a newer feature on Instagram and the algorithm is eating them up! Take advantage of the boosted exposure by posting reels to your feed. To make the most of Instagram reels, be sure to use the editor features including filters and music. You should also be shooting your videos vertically and using trending music within your own content. Check out this video we recently posted that received 30,000 views using the current best practices.
2. Use Relevant Hashtags to Boost Your Reach
Hashtags will help your content to be seen by a larger audience. To effectively use hashtags, we recommend using 15 hashtags per post and creating unique hashtag sets. Try to use a combination of location-based hashtags (since you’re a local business) and niche-based hashtags that are relevant to your post. You should also aim for hashtags with a high search volume. This ensures you’re getting a substantial amount of traffic without competing in overly saturated hashtags.
3. Schedule Your Posts When Your Audience is Online
If your audience isn’t active when you post, there’s a good chance you’ll get lost deep in the feed. Using Instagram analytics, take note of when your audience is active on the platform and prioritize posting at these times. This will get more eyes on your content and help it get pushed to a larger audience. You can check these analytics right in the Instagram app. Go to the 3 lines in the top right corner of your profile page, then click Insights > Total followers and scroll to the bottom to Most Active Times. You’ll be able to see what times and days of the week your audience is online.
4. Post on a Consistent Schedule
Showing up on the feed consistently is the key to growing your audience. Now, it may not be possible for you to post multiple times a day. Quality content is much more important than quantity. With that in mind, keep to a posting schedule that you can stick to without sacrificing the quality of your posts. By showing up consistently, you’ll see a steady increase in followers over time.
